Screening Strategic Programme Manager (Band 8a) – Pan Lothian

NHS Lothian is looking to appoint a Strategic Programme Manager (Band 8a) to join the Screening team within the Public Health Directorate. The postholder will provide public health leadership across four screening programmes (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening, Diabetic Eye screening Lung Cancer screening and Pregnancy and Newborn screening).
The postholder will be responsible for a team of Public Health Project Managers within the Public Health Directorate and will work closely with the Heads of the relevant clinical services to ensure effective delivery of the screening programmes across the whole pathway.
The postholder will drive work with colleagues across the system to strengthen the screening programmes, ensure equity of access and to reduce health inequalities. They will provide public health advice and expertise to guide the development of the programmes, support incident investigations and ensure effective governance.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to provide consistent leadership in a style which engages, enables and empowers others. They will work closely with the Consultant in Public Health to facilitate collaboration across the programme pathways and deliver improved health outcomes.

a highly motivated individual with strong communication skills, an in-depth understanding of inequalities in health and screening programmes, and a significant proven track record in the field of Public Health. Candidates will possess highly developed specialist public health knowledge underpinned by theory and experience. Previous experience in screening would be valuable.
