Your Role And Responsibilities
The Opportunity
IBM Consulting FutureNow UK is looking for curious, driven graduates to join as Associate Engineers. You will join collaborative delivery teams building the digital services that millions of citizens rely on every day - across central government - the kind of work where what you ship genuinely matters.
From day one you will build with modern, AI-assisted engineering tools as a normal part of how we work - learning to design, code and ship alongside the latest agentic AI and developer tooling, not years down the line.
By joining IBM Consulting FutureNow as an associate you will join it as part of a cohort - growing alongside peers who start their journey at the same time. Each Associate Engineer is paired with an experienced mentor and follows a structured development framework that builds toward Engineer, Senior Engineer and Technical Lead roles as your skills and specialism develop.
Hybrid by default. Hybrid working is how we work day to day - you will balance time working from home with collaborating in person at one of the offices below, giving you flexibility while staying close to your team and mentor.

Cloud Engineer
Build and manage cloud-native infrastructure on IBM Cloud, AWS and Azure - the platforms that keep critical public services running.

Your Responsibilities
As an Associate Engineer at IBM Consulting FutureNow, your day-to-day responsibilities could include:
Engaging with clients to understand their needs and translating them into technical solution designs
Designing, developing, and integrating application components across the full stack - front-end, back-end, and databases
Writing clean, well-structured, maintainable code and participating in collaborative code reviews
Contributing to troubleshooting, performance optimisation, and test automation
Working within agile delivery teams, including stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning
Supporting technical colleagues and escalating to Technical Leads where appropriate

Requirements & Eligibility
Education: Predicted or achieved 2:1 Bachelor's Degree in STEM, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
Right to Work: Because much of this work supports secure public sector environments, these roles require UK security clearance. To meet eligibility prerequisites, applicants must hold British nationality, and will typically need at least ten years continuous residence within UK.
