THE POSITION
The Business Process Excellence Project Manager plays a key role in supporting the delivery of critical site initiatives within Animal Health Operations at Pirbright.
In this role, you will drive the implementation of programme governance, develop project management tools and standards, and ensure effective coordination of site-wide projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support delivery of initiatives on time and within scope, while strengthening project execution and continuous improvement practices across the organization.
This role is offered as a fixed-term maternity cover, with an anticipated end date November 1st, 2027. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week to be worked onsite in Pirbright, Surrey.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PMO frameworks, tools and reporting processes to enable effective oversight of site projects
- Monitor and track project and programme activities, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives
- Coordinate portfolio governance and support prioritisation of site initiatives
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure completion of actions and escalation of risks or delays
- Identify, manage and communicate dependencies, risks and resource constraints across the portfolio
- Support the development of roadmaps and improvement plans aligned to site priorities
- Provide training, coaching and support on Business Process Excellence tools and methodologies
- Drive adoption of standard processes, tools and best practices across cross-functional teams
Requirements
Education
- Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Information Systems or equivalent qualification in related field
- Lean Six Sigma certification is advantageous (minimum Green Belt; Black Belt preferred)
Skills & Experience
- Solid experience in project or portfolio management (PMO)
- Proven experience delivering improvement projects using Business Process Excellence methodologies
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Structured, proactive and improvement-focused mindset
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint) and experience working with project management
- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. pharmaceutical or manufacturing) is advantageous
