NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Role
You will provide a quality domestic service to the hospital or CHP premises, ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice. Domestics are required to rotate round all Wards Clinical areas and depts within hospital.
May be required to provide a food and beverage service for patients in adherence with Food Safety Regulations.
For Bands 2 and 3 (if less than 32 per week). This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

This is a permanent position based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital with a variety of hours available. Please note that for part-time hours, the salary will be pro-rata.

11 the hours worked will be 0730-1300 Saturday and Sunday
5.9 the hours worked will be 1700-2000 Saturday and Sunday
7.9 the hours worked will be 1600-2000 Saturday and Sunday
14.8 the hours worked will be 1700-2000 Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities
You will deliver an efficient, high-quality domestic service to patients and staff within the hospital, following defined work schedules for allocated areas while maintaining flexibility to meet changing daily requirements.
You will use cleaning agents safely and economically in line with manufacturers’ instructions, operate and care for mechanical cleaning equipment, and notify the Supervisor of any requirements for work materials, ensuring delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment. You will wear protective clothing provided by the Department, dispose of waste in accordance with relevant policies, and clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers, and small-scale equipment manually or using ward kitchen dishwashers.
All work will be undertaken in accordance with pre-agreed cleaning schedules and frequencies to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

This will include developing knowledge of all aspects of domestic service as outlined in the job purpose, training in the safe use of all machinery, and an understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and safe lifting and handling practices. You will also gain knowledge of infection control procedures, and be supported to achieve an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
In addition, you will develop good communication and customer care skills, and the ability to work flexibly and adaptably within the team.
