Description

We are proud to be partnering with a Local Authority based in the North-West, who are looking to appoint an Education Solicitor on a 3 month (minimum) locum contract.


This role offers an hourly rate in the region of £50 – £60 p/hour via an Umbrella company, but this can be negotiable depending on candidate expectations and experience. The successful candidate will need to conduct advocacy.


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high-quality legal advice and support on education law matters to internal clients across the Local Authority
  • Advising on statutory responsibilities under the Education Acts, including school admissions, exclusions, attendance, special educational needs (SEN), and safeguarding
  • Conducting advocacy at all levels before the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal, Appeal Panels, and any other appropriate tribunal
  • Supporting and advising education officers, school staff, and other stakeholders on legal duties and best practices
  • Undertaking all preparations in relation to Advocacy, including preparation of bundles, skeleton arguments and statements ensuring full compliance with legislation and guidance
  • Attending relevant meetings, including Safeguarding Board meetings, Joint Partnership Groups, and Legal Gateway meetings

  • Experience required:

    • Experience required within Education Law
    • Local Government experience


    Working hours:

    • Flexible start/finish times
    • Full-time
