We now have an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and forward‑thinking Energy Specialist - Decarbonisation. This role is perfect for someone passionate about sustainability, skilled in technical assessment, and motivated by the chance to shape the future of a national estate through low‑carbon innovation.
About the Role
As a Decarbonisation Specialist, you will play a central role in driving NHSPS's transition to a low‑carbon, energy‑efficient estate. You will lead decarbonisation and energy‑efficiency assessments across priority properties, identifying viable technologies and opportunities that reduce carbon emissions and improve energy performance. You'll provide expert technical guidance, ensuring low‑ and zero‑carbon solutions are accurately assessed, operationally suitable, and integrated into future project plans. A key part of the role is completing technical surveys and recommending suitable initiatives to develop a robust pipeline of decarbonisation projects that supports NHSPS in meeting its long‑term sustainability commitments. This is a unique opportunity to influence energy performance at scale, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to the long‑term resilience of the NHS estate.
Who You Are
You are a technically strong sustainability professional with deep knowledge of decarbonisation & renewable technologies and energy efficiency. You're confident translating complex technical requirements into clear, actionable recommendations and enjoy working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. You bring strong analytical skills, a solutions‑focused mindset, and the ability to ensure technical standards and governance are consistently upheld. You're motivated by the challenge of delivering meaningful carbon reduction across a diverse national estate.
