We are currently partnering with a leading West Midlands based social housing provider, who are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is a full-time, fully office-based position in Erdington with a salary of £28,000. The start date is dependent on notice.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting in delivering accounting functions in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Rent Income and Bank and any other adhoc duties
- Maintaining robust financial processes, ensuring a strong audit trail for all transactions
- Processing transactions within agreed time scales
- Working to be flexible to meet all deadlines
- Providing cover during other colleague absence where necessary
- Working with and creating a culture of delivery and process improvement
- Ensuring accuracy in processing of transactional data
- Ensuring good quality process notes for all processes
- Assisting in year-end audit work
- Responsible for working within appropriate policies in areas of responsibility, in line with current legislation and best practice
Experience required:
- Minimum three years’ experience within a finance position, preferably within Sales Ledger or Purchase Ledger
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Understanding double entry to ensure transactions are posted correctly across multiple systems
- Sound knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUPs & pivot tables) and other MS packages
- Exceptional organisation and communication skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Working hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday with flexible working hours
