Purpose of the role

As a Financial Services Regulatory Lawyer AVP at Barclays, you will act as a point of contact in BBPLC’s Legal function, to input into the implementation by BBPLC of all aspects of regulation affecting its businesses in EME. You will work with stakeholders including Markets, PBWM, Corporate and Cards & Payments lawyers, including for Barclays Europe, to guarantee consistency, collaborative and coordinated responses to reg changes. The role will also involve monitoring legal and regulatory developments in multiple jurisdictions and supporting the business in anticipating and assessing impact on Barclays’ core businesses. Other responsibilities include, Reviewing, analysing and escalating new regulatory developments and advising on implementation of new guidelines, practices and policies.
To be successful as a Financial Services Regulatory Lawyer AVP , you should be:
Qualified English lawyer
Technical lawyer willing to develop their expertise in a wide variety of legal, regulatory and governance issues
Experienced in a legal advisory role either in private practice or in-house
Interested in non-contentious financial services regulation
You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role is based in Manchester.
