This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled, innovative, energetic and committed staff team, and to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our exceptional pupils and their families. Walton Leigh School is an outstanding special school for pupils aged 11–19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom have associated autistic spectrum disorder. We currently have a vacancy at Walton Leigh School and welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs). The successful candidate will be supported within the classroom by a senior teaching assistant and a dedicated team of teaching assistants. In addition, they will benefit from the support of an experienced senior leadership team with a strong understanding of both the rewards and challenges of teaching in a special school setting. The role involves close collaboration with parents, therapists, specialist teachers and other professionals to support pupils’ diverse needs and enable them to make progress. The successful applicant will also have responsibility for a curriculum area, as agreed on appointment (this responsibility does not apply to ECTs).
