What to expect


The Head of Business Development is a senior member of the Commercial Operations team, responsible for the development and delivery of functional strategies, role always modelling the Post Office behaviours and demonstrating a Partner first mindset.



The Head of Business Development will lead a team of Business Development Managers focused on driving brand expansion and unlocking new revenue opportunities. They will establish and develop the function by defining and implementing the commercial strategy, equipping the team with the tools and capabilities required to accelerate growth with major operators and establishing a compelling brand value proposition that attracts leading operators. This role champions a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance, enabling effective decision-making across the business, customers, and partners.



Leading the team responsible for delivering the Payzone growth strategy, you will drive engagement and execution to achieve agreed business targets and accelerate performance. You will maintain deep insight into Payzone’s commercial and operational performance, providing proactive challenge and guidance to the account team to ensure delivery against business plans and expansion of the Payzone estate in line with strategic objectives

  • What you’ll need to succeed


    To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrable experience leading a New Business or Business Development department within Retail: In addition you will possess:

    • Substantial experience convening multiple stakeholders and through successful relationships, leading key cross-functional projects to drive results across the organisation

    • Proven track record of building and scaling partnerships with major retailers

    • Experience in leading and driving change aligned to functional and business strategies

    • Experience in setting up new process and platforms and delivering communication strategies in large corporate business

    • Extensive experience in B2B relationship management at a senior level with a strong understanding of partnerships

    • An understanding of data privacy laws, governance, risk, and budget management

    • Advanced influencing and communication skills; using a range of techniques to deliver messages effectively make an impact and drive a successful outcome

    • Ability to maintain strong and influential relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders to build support for business plans

    • Strong commercial business acumen and ability to make data-driven business decisions

    • Engaging, energetic and personable with an ability to build relationships with partners and stakeholders at all levels of the business
