Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Band 6 Neonatal Nurse on our busy LNU (Local Neonatal Unit) Full or part time hours would be considered.
The 28 cot unit consists of 12 ITU/HDU, 16 Special Care and 4 Transitional Care cots. The unit has a collaborative approach to care with good working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team and is lucky to be housed in a modern purpose built Women's Centre with excellent facilities for both staff and families. We practice Family Integrated Care and have special interest groups for Infant Feeding, Developmental Care and Palliative Care. HOPE and SHED parent support groups are well embedded on the unit.

Main responsibilities of the role include:
To act as advocate for the neonate.
To manage and professionally lead the nursing team in the clinical area in the absence of the senior nurse and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
To deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area ensuring assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a high standard of nursing care.
To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area, whilst offering guidance to junior medical staff.

All new staff are offered a 6-8 week supernumerary induction programme and assigned named mentors. Ongoing, continuous, professional development is an expectation of all Unit staff.
Opportunities to undertake Quality Improvement training and projects are available to all staff. Recent projects undertaken by staff have included the introduction of Family Integrated Care and implementing ACE awareness to reduce risk to babies and promote resilience in families.
