The Matron role is the cornerstone of improving the quality of patient care. This is achieved through visible inclusive leadership and engagement with patients and families, frontline staff and senior management teams. (CNO England, 2020). The post holder will be assigned to specific Clinical Speciality Groups (CSG) or speciality specific departments. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring compliance with regulatory and best practice standards, whilst striving to deliver the Trust strategic objectives. Working in partnership with the CSG lead and Speciality manager, the matron will focus upon 5 specific areas of responsibility:
