An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant inAdult Social Care at Swindon Borough Council. You will be part of a busy, supportive multiskilled team of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Hearing and
Vision practitioners, Social Workers and Assistant Care Managers.
As a team we provide support to vulnerable adults who may have a variety of physical orsensory impairments, learning disability or mental health conditions. Whilst also consideringthe needs of carers within a community setting.

Undertake strengths-based Occupational Therapy assessments with adults with a range of disabilities, using professional judgement to tailor approaches, identify needs, and promote independence.
Plan, implement, and review interventions including equipment, minor and major adaptations, and support services in line with the Care Act, housing legislation, and local policy.
Complete and support statutory responsibilities, including Mental Capacity Act -MCA- assessments and other relevant assessments, ensuring work is person-centred, evidence-based, recorded accurately, and completed within required timescales.
Manage a varied caseload autonomously within role scope, prioritising work effectively, and recognising when to escalate or refer complex cases to a qualified Occupational Therapist.
Participate in the Occupational Therapy duty rota, contributing to a responsive, timely service, managing urgent contacts, and making defensible decisions under time constraints with support from Occupational Therapists as required.
Work in partnership with carers, families, and wider services, providing information and support, and making best use of community, voluntary, and commissioned services.
Maintain accurate, timely records and demonstrate sound risk awareness, ensuring all practice aligns with organisational policies, professional standards, and statutory requirements.

Take active responsibility for and engage in continuous professional development, including training and reflective practice
Fully engage and prepare for own supervision and appraisal through self-evaluation, ensuring that continual professional development is evidenced.
Seek advice from and refer to other disciplines/professionals as appropriate.
Ensure that Council Policies and Procedures are followed at all times.
Be an ambassador for the Council and the service at all times, always representing the Council positively, professionally and appropriately at meetings with customers, external partners and agencies.
Operate within defined budgets for social care.
