Senior Assistant Healthcare Scientist - Medical Engineering

Our service is at the heart of several innovative initiatives, including Trust-wide resuscitation trolley equipment provision, a responsive Equipment Library service, and technical support for devices used in busy respiratory clinic settings. No two days look the same, and your contribution will have a real, visible impact on patient safety and clinical efficiency.

In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering the Trust's rolling programme of planned maintenance and ensuring that essential devices--such as beds, pumps, and other equipment--are always ready when needed.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential

• The post holder must possess good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with ward and departmental staff, with a good delivery of spoken English
• Basic computer & standard keyboard skills

Qualifications

Essential

• Level 3 qualification or equivalent in relevant field - for example Engineering, Health Decontamination, Healthcare Science
• The post holder requires basic literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable

• English or Mathematics at GCSE or equivalent

Further Training

Essential

• The ability to assimilate instructions and work to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Basic testing and "expert user" maintenance of a range of non-complex medical devices

Experience

Essential

• Significant experience of working in an healthcare environment where interaction with medical devices and a wide variety of staff is necessary
• Significant experience of working in a store or other moving & handling environment

Contractual Requirements

Essential

• Ability to lift and handle equipment with the correct aids. To include moving beds and smaller items of medical equipment.
• May be required to work at Newark on occasions
