Sister/Charge Nurse - Endoscopy

An exciting opportunity has risen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse secondment to join a fast paced exciting ward within the Division of Medicine and Long Term Conditions Team within the Endoscopy department.

The department can on a daily basis manage a high take of patients which brings the exciting fast pace to the unit with exciting opportunities. You will have the opportunity to participate in improvement programmes for the department as well as inputting to change management as the department prides itself on setting and achieving high quality standards of care for their patients.

Job description

Undertakes the provision of nursing care with support from senior colleagues. May develop the skills and competencies to perform additional skills. Will assist in the supervision of junior nursing staff and, where applicable, the teaching of learner nurses. Will be required to participate in the implementation of audit and quality initiatives. Acts in a manner that upholds the values to the Trust and that of the profession.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse with NMC
• Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
• Willingness to participate in further professional development and training
• Have significant experience within the Endoscopy department

Desirable

• Qualification or training in acute care, clinical leadership, or a related specialty
• Completion of relevant leadership or management courses

Knowledge

Essential

• Significant post-registration experience as a Band 5 nurse in an acute setting (e.g., acute medicine, critical care, emergency department)
• Proven ability to manage complex patient caseloads, including acutely ill patients
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting junior staff and students.

Desirable

• Experience in change management or quality improvement projects.

• Advanced clinical assessment skills, including the ability to identify and act on deteriorating patients
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, supervise, and motivate a team.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with patients, families, and healthcare professionals at all levels.
• Competence in clinical skills relevant to the acute setting (e.g intravenous therapy, ECG, Venepuncture, cannulation, CVD)
• In-depth knowledge of acute medical conditions and current clinical guidelines.
• Knowledge of infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
