Description
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory to join the Microbiology department based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

Consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered or working towards HCPC registration. If successful at interview, they will be required to complete relevant IBMS portfolios and the schedule of in-house training provided, within the agreed time scale, prior to progression, and the salary will be paid at Band 6 Annex 21 of the A4C Terms and Conditions.

Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged. You will be employed to work shifts over 7 days which include public holidays, on-call, evening and weekend shifts as required by the needs of the service. You may be required to rotate into other laboratory disciplines at the needs of the service.

The laboratory provides Microbiology support to the acute hospital and also to general practices and community hospitals in the surrounding area. We handle around 300,000 investigations per year, covering a wide range of analyses provided the Virtuo Blood Culture system, Vitek 2 –XL and Vitek –MS Maldi-TOF technology, IQ Sprint urinalysis and Vidas immunoassay, with Abbott Serology and Molecular solutions also on site.

The laboratory is accredited by UKAS ISO 15189:2022

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
