Specialist Occupational Therapist – Specialist Children’s Services

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team at The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. This permanent post offers up to 0.8wte (approx. 28 hours) and provides the chance to work within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary acute service, delivering Occupational Therapy for Children and Young people aged 0-18 years from a range of specialities. This is a hosted service, employed by Specialist Children’s services but based in RHC.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

To manage clinical risk within own caseload and that of designated team at all times.

To use specialist knowledge to refer to other health disciplines as appropriate.

To carry out duties/tasks to support the patient care pathway as delegated by the Team Lead Occupational Therapist

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Requirements

• Degree in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC registration,
• Minimum 2 years post qualification experience
• Experience working in a hospital setting and/or with Children and Young People
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and within a fast paced MDT
  
  

Desirable

• Knowledge and understanding of the role of OT within Specialist Children’s Services
• Driving licence (occasional home, school and nursery visits)
  
  

PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland clearance required.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
