The Graduate Business Development Manager – Ports & Shore Power is an entry-level career opportunity designed for an ambitious individual with a foundational background in electrical environments. This position is remote and can be located anywhere within the UK; however, due to the nature of the territory, frequent travel across the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe is expected. Under the mentorship and guidance of senior management, you will learn to develop and grow the electrical systems business within the rapidly expanding ports and maritime infrastructure sector across Ireland, the UK, and Northern Europe.

With a clear strategic focus on port electrification and shore power (cold ironing) solutions, this role offers a structured pathway to becoming a technical sales expert in green maritime technology. Full training and continuous professional development will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Training

• Learn to identify, track, and qualify new business opportunities for port electrification and shore power infrastructure across the region.
• Support the regional sales team in achieving order intake, revenue, and margin targets.
• Proactively manage and maintain the CRM system to ensure a robust, accurate pipeline.
• Conduct market research to map out key stakeholders, including port authorities, terminal operators, and engineering consultants.

Technical & Commercial Learning

• Develop a deep understanding of the business's core technologies, including:
• Shore power systems (LV, MV, and HV connections)
• Medium- and high-voltage power distribution and substations

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a proactive point of contact for incoming customer enquiries.
• Build long-term relationships with electrical wholesalers, contractors, and junior engineering stakeholders.
• Represent the company at regional port, maritime, and green energy industry trade shows and events.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

• A recent Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• OR Proven sales experience working within an electrical wholesaler or technical electrical distribution environment, with a strong understanding of commercial electrical components.
• A demonstrable passion for sales, business development, or account management.
• A basic foundational understanding of electrical systems (voltage, power distribution, or circuitry).

Desirable

• Familiarity with medium- or high-voltage equipment.
• Prior experience in a customer-facing, internal sales, or customer service role.
• An interest in environmental sustainability, decarbonisation, or renewable energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• Full UK/European Driving Licence, as regional travel will be required as you progress.

Travel

• Regular travel across the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe for client visits, site walk-throughs, and internal training.
