Frequently asked questions

Why does recent funding matter for visa sponsorship? A company that has just taken in new capital is usually planning to grow, and hiring tends to follow within months. If it also holds a live sponsor licence, it's well placed to take on people who need visa sponsorship.

How should I use this as a job seeker? Start with the sponsors that already have open jobs listed here: recent funding plus live roles is the clearest sign a company is hiring and can sponsor a visa. The amount and how recently it was filed give you a rough sense of how much runway a company has for new headcount.

Does recent funding mean the company is hiring right now? Not always. The Open jobs column shows how many live roles we've found for each sponsor, so a company can appear here with fresh funding but no vacancies yet. That usually means hiring is on the way rather than open today, so following the company or setting an alert is the best way to catch new roles as they go up.

How do you know these sponsors received funding? When a UK company issues new shares it must file form SH01 (a return of allotment of shares) with Companies House within 30 days. We read those public filings for every licensed sponsor and compute the amount from the number of shares allotted and the price paid per share, including any premium.

Why isn't a company or filing I expected shown here? Not every share allotment is funding, so we filter out the ones that aren't. We skip filings under £50,000, anything paid other than in cash, and shares issued at face value instead of a negotiated price (usually an internal restructuring). Allotments that are tiny next to the company's existing share count get left out too, since those are almost always employees exercising share options. The same goes for small allotments by long-established companies, which tend to be owners moving shares between themselves rather than new investment. If a company you expected isn't here, chances are it filed something we deliberately leave out.

How fresh is this data? We re-check every sponsor's Companies House filing history on a rolling basis, roughly every two weeks, and this page lists allotments filed within the last 12 months. Companies file the SH01 itself within 30 days of allotting shares.

Are the amounts exact? Amounts are computed directly from the figures companies declare in the SH01 filing (shares allotted × price paid per share, including premium). They can differ from headline round sizes reported in the press, which sometimes span multiple filings or include debt. Each row links to the official SH01 document so you can verify the source.
