A new opportunity has arisen at Middle Chare Medical Group for a part-time phlebotomist to join our Nursing team. We are looking to appoint an experienced Phlebotomist who is clinically skilled with general blood taking and can work across our 2 sites at Middle Chare and Woodlands. The role will be both challenging and rewarding and will provide the opportunity for advancement and development.
The successful candidate will need to have undertaken phlebotomy training and have recent experience in blood taking.
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample as required.
Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols.
Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical IT system and ensuring specimens are ready for onward transportation.
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
Maintaining effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff.
Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters.
Being an integral part of the general practice team.
Ensuring clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisations IPC Policy.
Working within national and local protocols where these exist.
Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and safeguarding children.
Undertaking all mandatory training and induction programmes.
Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
