Join our team in Scotland and be part of one of the UK's most dynamic and future‑focused Finance and Restructuring practices – integrating sector expertise with deep technical skill and a commercial mindset.
What You'll Do:

• Support the team in advising lenders or insolvency practitioners on the sale of distressed property once lenders have enforced.
• Take responsibility, appropriate to your level, for parts of real estate finance and distressed property transactions – for example, managing conditions precedent lists, preparing first drafts of documents and coordinating completion, with guidance and supervision.
• Help deliver practical, commercial solutions to both technical legal and operational challenges faced by clients in the real estate finance and distressed markets, and develop your ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice.
• Team Training: Participate actively in team training, knowledge sharing and internal sessions, both as a learner and, over time, by contributing materials or presenting on topics as your experience grows. Work collaboratively with colleagues and support a positive team culture.
• Business Development: Support business development and profile raising activities for the team and firm, for example by helping prepare pitch documents, attending client or industry events, and contributing to briefings or thought leadership pieces under supervision. Begin to build strong rapport with clients to foster relationships based on trust and reliability.
• Continuous self development is highly valued. You will be encouraged to participate in formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to take advantage of mentoring, coaching, and career development opportunities available to you.
Who We're Looking For:
• UK qualified solicitor (NQ level) with a genuine interest in Real Estate / Real Estate Finance. The candidate can be either Scots law qualified or English law qualified. Dual qualification in Scots and English Law would be beneficial but is not essential. Applications from trainees due to qualify in 2026 are welcomed.
• Some experience (for example, from training seats) in real estate, real estate finance, banking or restructuring is desirable, but not essential if you can demonstrate a strong interest in this area and good underlying technical ability.
• Willingness and ability to develop strong technical expertise in real estate finance transactions, including:
o reviewing and reporting on title and property due diligence (with supervision)
o assisting with certificates of title and reports on title
o drafting and negotiating, with guidance, undertakings, security documents and related documentation.
• Excellent drafting, communication and organisational skills, with the ability (or clear potential) to distil complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance, and strong attention to detail.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and to staying up to date with developments in finance law, regulation and market practice, with support from the team and our training programmes.
• Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, contribute to knowledge sharing and adopt best practice. As you develop, you will be expected to support and assist more junior team members (for example, trainees and apprentices), while ensuring that work is carried out to high quality standards.
• Strong technical aptitude is important, but we also value curiosity, creativity and a client focused approach. You should be interested in the REF industry and wider business context (including opportunities and challenges) and open to exploring how technology, including AI and other tools, can enhance our service to clients.
