This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Rheumatology at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. This is a 24-month fellowship programme designed to develop the skills to a level to deliver independent practice as a Rheumatology Consultant.
The primary objective of the fellowship is to provide advanced clinical training in the management of
osteoporosis, inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disease and vasculitis. Additional experience in
research and audit can be offered.
The specific learning objectives of the fellowship are.
Knowledge: To develop full competency in the clinical assessment and management of rheumatoid conditions.
Practical: To learn basic ultrasound ultrasound guided joint injections.
Research: Dedicated research time will be offered to complete at least one publication and presentation of work at international meetings will be supported.
Rheumatology fellowship training is provided by the rheumatology department and led by Dr David Hutchinson. The fellow will work in the department and supervise the registrars and junior doctors as the rheumatologist on call. The on-call commitment is 1:6. At least 2 half-days per week will be allocated to CPD, audit and research.
The outpatient services in Rheumatology are delivered in a dedicated Rheumatology Unit. Full support is available for Rheumatology procedures in the outpatient setting. The department has a dedicated ultrasound machine.
Whilst the post does not attract a national training number (NTN), the postholder will have formal progress meetings with Dr David Hutchinson to ensure appropriate support and opportunities are being provided.
