SACT Development Nurse - Band 5
We are currently seeking highly motivated nurse to join our nurse led unit as a SACT Development Nurse at Cathedral Day Unit and Mobile Cancer care Unit, Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Road, Canterbury, Kent CT1 3NG.
Whilst this is a challenging role and requires someone who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments it is very rewarding and offers great career progression.
No one day is the same and draws on and enables the post-holder to use a variety of skills and expertise. You must like working with people and want to make a real difference to our patients and families lives as well as make a positive contribution to the team and our service.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Degree trained NMC registered nurse
- Continuous quality improvement
- Teaching and Assessing
Desirable
- Has commenced or completed SACT passport
- Experience in a variety of acute clinical settings/experience as a band 5 in haemato-oncology setting
- SACT competent - UKONS SACT Passport or other SACT accredited course
Clinical skills and experience
Essential
- Cannulation and venepuncture skills
- IV Drug administration Care and management of central venous access devices
- Demonstrates effective communication skills through patient assessment
- Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care needs
- Venesection
Desirable
- Ultra sound guided cannulation
- UKONS 24 hr telephone triage training
- Experience of working within a nurse led service/competency in nurse led clinics
- Enhanced/Advanced Communication skills training
Governance
Essential
- An understanding of local and national initiatives within cancer, radiotherapy and other treatments
- Working knowledge of COSHH
- Current understanding of key issues facing the NHS both locally and Nationally
- Risk reporting and escalation
Desirable
- Clinical Governance
- Conflict resolution
- Uphold infection prevention and control strategies and contribute to practice audit
