An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialised Technologist position within the Radiation Protection and Imaging Physics section [RPIP] of Medical Physics at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The section provides scientific and technical support to a range of clinical services within NHS Lothian & NHS Fife.

You should be qualified to SCQF level 10 in a physics, engineering or clinical technology discipline. Registration as a Clinical Technologist or equivalent registered healthcare professional (RCT/AHCS/HCPC) is expected. Equivalent qualifications supported by relevant technical experience and knowledge may also be considered.

This post will specialise in x-ray equipment testing and be the lead Specialist Technologist in this area of the service. It is expected that the applicant will have significant experience in the testing of routine and complex x-ray equipment, including radiographic, fluoroscopic, mammographic and CT equipment. They will support the Team Lead Clinical Technologist with planning and scheduling of equipment surveys and support the training of other members of staff.

We are looking for candidates who are able to bring a friendly and positive approach to work. Who process good communication and organisational skills to work as part of a wider team. Working with high precision and maintaining accurate records to e

nsure the effective day-to-day running of the service.

The section has a clear focus on quality and patient services. You will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team supporting a range of clinical technical work related to ionising and non-ionising imaging equipment. There is also opportunity to contribute to the training of fellow staff and development of local quality procedures & protocols.
