UK university graduate outcomes

Earnings percentiles, sustained-employment rates, and the industries graduates go into, cross-referenced with the Home Office register of licensed visa sponsors in each university’s city.

Across the 30 universities tracked here, graduates earn a typical median of £34,250 five years after leaving (excluding medicine), and 80.0% are in sustained employment within a year. If you’re an international student, each profile links to the licensed visa sponsors hiring in that field.

About the “LEO 2025 release”

The Department for Education’s Longitudinal Educational Outcomes (LEO) dataset links graduate tax records to HMRC, DWP, and Student Loans Company data. The 2025 release (the latest) reports outcomes measured in the 2023/24 tax year, at 1, 3, and 5 years after graduation. So a “5-year” figure here describes graduates who left university in 2017/18. Earnings data lags the academic year by around six years because HMRC filings need to settle and DfE needs to link records across agencies.

International-student headcount comes from HESA 2024/25 (published Jan 2026) and is a separate, more recent dataset.

The “#rank · N” badge is each university’s international-student headcount (HESA 2024/25) and its position in that headcount league, not a prestige ranking. “Median 5y (ex-medicine)” is the median-of-medians across each provider’s subjects, excluding medicine & dentistry (which dominates earnings at every UK provider via NHS pay bands). Sort by any column header, or the “Sort by” menu on mobile. “—” means DfE suppressed the cell for small graduate counts.
