Salary: up to £33,000 (based on experience)

Job overview:

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team. This role reports to the Finance Manager and playing a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness and accuracy of the finance reporting. Your primary mission will be to support the Finance Manager and Accounts Payable Officer in the timely preparation of month-end reporting, ensuring targets and deadliness are met and financial reporting is accurate and reconciled.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong organisation and problem-solving skills to maintain seamless, efficient processes. You will be team-orientated and have experience working in a busy, fast-paced office.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Finance Manager with month end processes, including but not limited to, bank reconciliations, VAT, Margin and Inventory journals at month end.
• Responsibility for all aspects of the Fixed Assets module.
• Perform regular reviews and reconciliations of Dynamics BC general ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Assist the Finance Manager with Accounts Receivable activities, including customer invoicing and debt collection.
• Assist the Finance Manager with the monthly and annual budget process.
• Support the Head of Finance with ongoing insurance requirements and annual renewals.
• Processing and review of staff expenses and company cards.
• Support the Accounts Payable Officer in the processing of invoices and timely payments to our suppliers, and deputise for the Accounts Payable Officer during holidays and absences.
• Support the Finance Manager in the continuous improvement of Microsoft Dynamics BC processes.
• Support the Head of Finance with Innovation Funding projects, including applications and budget tracking.
• Support the Head of Finance with the creation of business processes, policies and KPIs.
• Other Ad Hoc tasks as required to support the department.

Qualifications & experience:

• Ability to analyse, reconcile and interpret financial information.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with accounting software Microsoft Dynamics BC, Microsoft Excel (required) and aptitude to learn new systems.
• Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. Claude) to improve efficiency and ways of working.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to tight deadlines with changing demands and priorities
• Ability to keep the highest standards of compliance and confidentiality.
• Good communicator and able to work effectively within a team to get things done.
