About the role

Various Climate, Air and Noise Full Time, Permanent

Are you an experienced lighting consultant ready to shape something from the ground up? This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in establishing, developing and growing Pegasus Group’s lighting service offering across the UK.

Working within our Climate, Air & Noise team, you’ll provide technical leadership, commercial direction and strategic oversight for lighting-related services, collaborating with colleagues across planning, design, environmental, infrastructure and ecology disciplines to deliver high-quality, integrated solutions for our clients.

This is a standout role for someone who combines strong technical expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset. You will raise the profile of the discipline internally and externally, and help drive long-term growth across a diverse client base.

What We Are Looking For

As our Associate Lighting Consultant, you’ll lead the delivery of lighting consultancy services across development, infrastructure and environmental projects. You’ll provide technical oversight, quality assurance and best practice guidance, while advising clients and project teams on lighting design, planning requirements and regulatory compliance.

You’ll oversee a broad range of assessments and designs, including Lighting Impact Assessments, Lighting Strategies, Dark Sky Assessments, Ecological Lighting Strategies, Glint and Glare Assessments, Shadow Flicker Assessments, highway and public realm lighting designs, and Section 38 and Section 278 lighting designs.

Alongside technical delivery, you’ll play a key role in business development — identifying opportunities, building client relationships, supporting bids and tenders, and promoting the lighting discipline through networking, presentations, thought leadership and marketing activity.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Lighting Design, Engineering, Environmental Design, Architecture, Building Services, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in lighting consultancy, engineering consultancy or a multidisciplinary development consultancy.
  • Membership of the Institution of Lighting Professionals, or working towards a senior professional grade.
  • Strong technical expertise in lighting assessment, modelling and design.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK planning requirements, ILP guidance, British Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Experience delivering lighting assessments and designs across a range of sectors.
  • Proven client-facing consultancy experience, with the confidence to build trusted relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, resources, programmes and project performance.

  • Further details can be found on the attached Job Description

You can expect to be part of a proactive and vibrant team that encourages individual autonomy and initiative. We feel this helps to facilitate a better work life balance that suits individual’s needs, whilst still being assured of a supportive and collaborative working environment.

You will be working on a diverse set of interesting and challenging projects; no one day will be the same! The Team itself is on a trajectory of growth and diversification, making this an incredibly exciting time to join the team.

Not necessarily. Pegasus Group holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
