Bristol Infrastructure Full Time, Part Time, Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and commercially minded Associate or Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead and grow our Civils Infrastructure team in Bristol.
In this key role, you’ll take the technical and operational lead for civil infrastructure delivery across the region, delivering high-quality highway and drainage engineering for private sector development schemes while building strong client relationships and supporting Pegasus Group’s continued growth.
What You Will Do
Team leadership and management
You’ll lead, mentor and manage a small, dedicated team of engineers and technicians in our Bristol office, creating an environment where people can do their best work and continue to develop. You’ll oversee resources, prioritise workloads and support the team’s operational performance, while providing line management, performance support and structured career development. You’ll also help maintain high standards across technical outputs, promoting quality assurance and supporting compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 requirements.
Client and commercial management
You’ll be a key local point of contact for clients, local authorities and internal multidisciplinary teams, building trusted relationships and supporting successful project delivery. You’ll prepare, review and approve fee proposals and tender submissions, while maintaining strong financial control across project profitability, invoicing and budget tracking. You’ll also play an active role in business development, helping to secure repeat work and identify opportunities to collaborate across Pegasus Group’s wider growth sectors.
Technical delivery and direction
You’ll take an independent, holistic lead role on complex civil infrastructure projects, guiding work from pre-planning strategy through to detailed design and construction. This will include leading the production and checking of adoptable and private highway designs, including Section 38 and Section 278 schemes, alongside drainage systems under Section 104. You’ll work closely with our Environmental Engineering team on flood risk assessments, surface water drainage strategies and sustainable drainage systems, while overseeing technical submissions for planning, legal consents, adoptions and technical approvals.
Professional standards and strategy
You’ll work with a high level of autonomy, using your judgement to resolve complex engineering and consent matters while collaborating with Directors on major fee proposals or particularly complex projects. You’ll also support cross-team knowledge sharing and act as a trusted technical authority, providing guidance and sounding-board support for colleagues across the business.
