Band 7 Trauma and Rehabilitation Co-ordinator

We have a new opportunity for a motivated and experienced Therapist or Nurse to join our dynamic Team at Royal Free Hospital . The post is full time, working 37.5 hours per week, but flexible working may be considered.

A trauma and rehabilitation role at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust centres on coordinating the care of major trauma patients from admission through early rehabilitation. The Band 7 Trauma and Rehabilitation Coordinator post is a good example of what this work typically involves.

Managing the patient journey -- Overseeing day-to-day care for major trauma patients from the moment they arrive through the early stages of rehab. This includes ensuring continuity, safety, and timely progression through the care pathway.

Supporting the major trauma network -- Acting as a key link within the wider trauma system, ensuring patients receive coordinated, high-quality care across departments and partner services.

Early rehabilitation planning -- Initiating and coordinating early rehab interventions, helping patients transition from acute care to longer-term recovery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Nurse or Therapist with proven experience of working with people with acute and complex needs - preferably within the acute care setting. Previous trauma rehab experience is beneficial, but not essential as a full induction, joint working opportunities and ongoing support will be provided from the friendly and dedicated staff within the trauma service.

Main duties of the job

This post will offer the opportunity to develop highly specialist skills in the management of trauma patients at all stages of their journey - fully embracing the benefits of high-quality therapeutic relationships. The post has a strong emphasis on communication and coordination as part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team within the ED, critical care and ward settings, and excellent organisational skills will be essential.

The post holder will have the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, which will include the provision of training and supervision of staff; the coordination of audits and service development projects, and high level communication across service areas within and external to the trust. • Registered Band 7 Nurse/Qualified AHP
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Relevant post graduate courses e.g.
• Certified in advanced life support or commitment towards completing
• Certified in paediatric advanced life support

Desirable

• Certified in level 2 trauma competencies/evidence of working towards
• Certified in level 3 trauma competencies

Experience

Essential

• Evidence of post- graduate experience within trauma, orthopaedics, neurosciences and complex injury cases
• Working within an MDT
• Teaching /mentoring course

Desirable

• Relevant NMTNG approved level 2 course such as Advanced trauma nursing
• Working with TARN data
• Presentations at national level
