- Provision of advice on valuations and apportionments for national taxation purposes.
- Support the DVS management team by working closely with Team Leaders and the Sector Head to maintain a diverse, agile workforce, enabling the effective redeployment of skills across the sector to meet quality standards and deliver against budgetary targets.
- Lead the delivery and review of complex and high-profile National Taxation valuation casework, including HMRC and DWP valuations supporting the administration of Benefits, Right to Buy and Community Infrastructure Levy ensuring effective risk management, quality assurance, timely delivery and the appropriate realisation of tax yield.
- Providing Trade related valuations and Development Appraisals with a significant focus on the London geographical area.
- Collaborate with a broad range of specialists on technical and policy issues.
- Providing detailed technical guidance, training, and mentoring to caseworkers supporting capability development and the consistent application of valuation standards.
- Report to a wide range of stakeholders, up to and including senior officials and Ministers where necessary.
- Drive improvements in customer satisfaction and overall taxpayer experience
- Act as an expert witness, appearance before arbitrators and tribunals, and preparing submissions of evidence to independent experts and Lands Tribunals where required.
Our ideal candidate will have advanced technical surveying knowledge. The role requires excellent stakeholder engagement skills, the confidence to understand and appropriately challenge client requirements, and the ability to manage risk effectively. You will also be able to coach and support colleagues whilst maintaining awareness of the wider political, economic, environmental and legislative context.

- Full MRICS or FRICS. You must willing to work towards or already hold Registered Valuer status through RICS Valuer Registration Scheme (VRS), criteria as determined by the RICS is as follows: Regulatory Rules
- Advanced technical surveying knowledge, underpinned by a strong understanding of relevant legislation, case law and professional practice relating to taxation, with the ability to use sound judgement, technical expertise and negotiation skills to deliver high quality outcomes in complex valuation cases.
- Strong and inclusive leadership skills, with the ability to deliver organisational objectives champion innovation and sharing of best practice, while providing coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to develop capability and support the successful delivery of complex casework.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build credible relationships and influence a range of stakeholders.
- Awareness of the wider political, economic, social, technical, environmental, and legislative context that impact the profession, with the ability to apply problem-solving techniques and sound technical and professional judgement, to identify and mitigate risks.
