Cyber Security Governance, Risk and Compliance Lead

Location: Remote within England and Wales (potential for in office meeting once a month, maximum)

Salary: £60,035 base salary per annum (plus £3,612 London weighting if applicable)

The Cyber Security function serves as a pivotal organisational enabler, providing expert guidance to ensure that National Citizens Advice and our local member network build and buy software and infrastructure that is "secure by design." By moving security from a final gateway to a foundational guiding principle, the team ensures operational excellence and robust risk mitigation across the service.

The Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Lead acts as the authoritative lead for technical cyber assurance. The role is responsible for establishing the organisation's technical risk framework and ensuring the security of the third-party vendor ecosystem, positioning security as a proactive enabler for the DDaT department.

This role will define and embed the cyber GRC operating model. You will be accountable for developing appropriate governance and assurance processes, and setting the rigorous assurance standards - specifically IASME Cyber Essentials and IASME Cyber Assurance - required to protect our infrastructure and supply chain. Working with high impact and complex risks, you will lead the prioritisation of mitigation activities and use your judgement to make informed, risk-based decisions, actively advising on whether risks fall safely within the organisation's risk tolerance and escalating appropriately when they do not. As well as leading on GRC in cyber security, you will be ready to contribute and integrate these technical assurance practices into a wider organisational drive towards ISO 27001 in the future.

The National Citizens Advice operates from offices in England and Wales, with 4 regional offices based in Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Leeds, therefore all successful applicants must be based within England or Wales.
