Field Engineer

At ASK4, we provide managed internet and smart building technology to multi-tenant properties across Europe and we’re looking for a Field Engineer to help us deliver that promise across Scotland.

About the Role

Based in Scotland and reporting to the Field Manager, you’ll be the on-the-ground technical expert responsible for planning, carrying out and supervising installations, repairs and maintenance across ASK4 sites in your region. You’ll work closely with project and operations teams, lead sub-contracted installation crews, and be the person who ensures every site is connected to the high standard our clients expect. This is a home-based role for administrative tasks, with regional travel – including occasional overnight stays – and periodic visits to ASK4 offices for training and meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support sub-contracted installation teams during the deployment of Wi-Fi, data network and telecommunications equipment on client sites.
• Carry out pre-installation surveys, site testing, commissioning and on-site quality assurance checks.
• Maintain Wi-Fi, data and telecoms equipment across your allocated region, responding promptly to faults and service requests to meet agreed service levels.
• Attend project meetings, prepare installation documentation (including risk assessments and method statements), and contribute to project planning alongside the ASK4 project team.
• Liaise with internal teams (including Support and Network Operations) and manage stock, consumables and subcontractor requirements to keep projects on track.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, report any health and safety concerns, and work in line with ASK4’s policies, procedures and environmental responsibilities.

About You

Essential

• Practical experience in IT, networking or telecoms, including structured cabling (Ethernet and Fibre) installation and testing.
• Experience of project involvement and coordination, including working with contractors, clients and suppliers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident engaging with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• A process-driven, conscientious approach with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours work.
• A valid ECS/CSCS card.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the region, including overnight stays when required.

Desirable

• IT-related further or higher education qualification or a data cabling installation qualification.
• Experience working with senior managers in customer environments.
• Familiarity with MS Project or similar project management tools.
• Additional language skills.
