Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and travelling to different sites?

Avidity Science is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Service team, primarily supporting customers across the East Midlands, with regular travel throughout the UK.

This is a field-based role focused on the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of specialist laboratory and water treatment equipment used within healthcare, scientific research, and laboratory environments. You'll play a vital role in helping our customers maintain critical equipment that supports scientific discovery, healthcare, and innovation.

Role Location & Working Pattern

• Location: Primarily East Midlands, with regular travel across the UK
• Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm
• Role type: Full-time, field-based
• Company vehicle: Company car provided
• This role requires regular travel, occasional overnight stays, participation in an on-call rota, and flexibility to work some weekends and public holidays when required.
• You'll need to live within a reasonable distance of the territory and have an existing right to work in the UK.

Your Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will:

• Carry out installation, commissioning, and upgrade work for water treatment and laboratory equipment.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance and service visits at customer sites.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond to breakdowns and provide emergency support when required.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to customers regarding equipment, repairs, spare parts, and service contracts.
• Complete service reports and required documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain van stock and manage spare parts inventory effectively.
• Work closely with our Service Office team to ensure excellent customer communication and service delivery.
• Follow company health and safety policies and safe working procedures.
• Support continuous improvement by sharing technical knowledge and identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Helpful Experience

• Experience working as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician, Test Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar technical support role.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline desirable, or equivalent practical experience.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Working Conditions

This is a field-based role supporting customers primarily across the East Midlands, with regular travel throughout the UK. The role includes driving between customer locations, carrying equipment and spare parts, and working within laboratory, healthcare, industrial, and scientific environments.
