Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and dynamic Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the integrated CAMHS Team within Clayfields House Secure Childrens Home part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust on a 10 month maternity cover contract.

You will be a valued member of a highly skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team working alongside Mental Health Nurses, Specialist Practitioners, Psychology, and Occupational Therapy.

Job description

Working with young people aged 1018 years, many of whom present with complex presentations, including neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma histories and adverse childhood experiences, and speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).

Using your specialist clinical skills, you will:

Undertake comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments.Design and deliver evidence-based, individualised intervention programmes.Provide consultation, advice, and training to colleagues to embed communication-inclusive practice across the service.Work collaboratively with families, carers, care and education staff, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure young people receive coordinated, high-quality care.Contribute to service development and help shape innovative approaches to supporting communication within a secure setting

Qualifications - Academic / Craft / Professional

• Professional body Registered HCPC Registered
• Recognised AHP Degree/diploma

Knowledge

• Highly specialist applied clinical knowledge
• Applied knowledge of risk assessment within field of clinical practice
• Knowledge of National Policy and guidance and impact on local practice.
• Applied leadership knowledge.

Desirable

• Highly specialist knowledge of how mental and physical health contribute to risk assessment and support management.
• Contributed to regional and national clinical projects and/or strategic work

Experience

Essential

• Working experience of assessing and managing a complex caseload with young people and/or adults with profession specific needs in a specialist area
• Knowledge of Risk Assessment and ability to ensure effective risk management strategies within specialism.
• Experience of effective multi-disciplinary/agency working and established interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Experience of designing and delivering different learning and development opportunities for staff teams.

Experience in developing evaluation / audit tools and resources as part of profession/multi-professional team

Experience of leading the clinical and professional development of others including students

Desirable

• Experience of leading / managing project work.
• Experience of research, audit, service evaluation and/or quality improvement projects - setting up, evaluating, reporting and application
