The Role
We’re recruiting for Interaction Designers here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Prisons Digital team.
This role aligns against Interaction designer - Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework from the Government Digital and Data Framework
Our work as interaction designers at the Ministry of Justice is to transform the experiences of people who rely on our services, often at critical times in their lives. This is an opportunity for you to make a difference to people’s lives through design, to make a meaningful contribution to our design community and in turn the wider world of public service design.

- Understand user needs and business objectives in highly complex service areas

- Rapidly design and test digital prototypes with users

Person Specification
Essential
- You have experience as a designer; you have a grounding in user-centred design, from concept to final delivery. You know which design tools and methods to use and how to bring an agile delivery team along with you.
You can create high quality, compelling design concepts and artefacts. You are experienced in digital prototyping, for example in Figma or in HTML and CSS. You know how to design digital services in an inclusive and accessible way. You can listen to and interpret the needs of service users, technical and business stakeholders. You are a strong team player who enjoys working with and getting the best out of a multidisciplinary delivery team.
Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for BPSS clearance.

Salary Information**
Base salary for this role is from National: £42,914 - £46,182 and London: £49,325 - £53,081
- New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
- Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
- Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
