SOC 1122 (60% match) is an eligible occupation, with a going rate of £53,400, and GKR Scaffolding Ltd is a licensed sponsor. That is our reading of the rules. Whether they issue a Certificate of Sponsorship is still their call.
Worth checking: this could also be SOC 8151 (Scaffolders, stagers and riggers, Trainee will gain NVQ2 as qualified scaffolder), which is not on the eligible-occupation list. Ask GKR Scaffolding Ltd what the duties actually are.
Trainee Scaffolding Management Position – London / Kent
We are looking for a brand new trainee to join our London business unit, with the long-term aim of developing into a scaffolding management position.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to build a career in the scaffolding and construction industry. You do not need to have management experience, but you must have the right attitude, be willing to learn, and be prepared to work hard.
The successful candidate will be someone who is positive, proactive, open-minded, reliable, and able to think on their feet. We are looking for a problem solver who wants to understand the industry from the ground up and develop into a future management role.
The Role
The trainee will follow a structured development programme, gaining experience across different areas of the business. This will include:
Spending the first 4 days per week in the yard for approximately 4-6 months to gain a practical understanding of scaffold materials, equipment, stock control, loading, logistics, and how the operational side of the business works.
Following this initial period, the trainee will spend time on construction sites learning about scaffolding in various live site environments. This will include understanding site safety, scaffold design principles, erection processes, inspections, client requirements, and the day-to-day running of scaffold projects.
The trainee will also shadow our Project Managers, gaining exposure to planning, labour coordination, health and safety, client communication, commercial awareness, programme management, and problem solving on site. At the end of this period the successful candidate will have gained an NVQ2 to become a qualified scaffolder.
There will also be time spent in the office, working closely with the business unit lead and wider management team to understand how projects are priced, planned, managed, delivered, and reviewed.

● Is hardworking, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile.
● Takes pride in everything they do, no matter how big or small the task.

● Can think logically, solve problems, and use their initiative.
● Is open-minded and willing to learn from experienced colleagues.
● Wants to build a long-term career.
● Can communicate professionally and work well as part of a team.

Not necessarily. GKR Scaffolding Ltd holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
The offer must clear both the general threshold and the SOC 1122 going rate of £53,400. New-entrant and shortage discounts can lower it.
