Junior Software Engineer - Index Analytics and Technology

Due to internal progression and the growth of the Index team, we're looking to hire a Junior Software Engineer - Index Analytics and Technology to provide support with implementing the development on various in-house fund management tools, that assist our Fund Managers and Senior Fund Managers in the management of funds.

A varied role offering exposure to many internal teams within L&G Asset Management, individuals will need to have proven experience of building internal relationships, will have strong knowledge of Python and SQL, and will thrive on automating processes and working proactively to problem solve issues for our clients

What you’ll be doing:

• Providing support on and carrying out development on various in-house fund management tools that assist Fund Managers and Senior Fund Managers in the management of funds
• Analysing and attributing portfolio performance
• Automating processes and proactively solving issues for internal stakeholders
• Supporting data pipelines for the wider of use across the department

Who we’re looking for:

• Previous experience of working within Investment Management or finance is preferable, however we will also consider candidates with proven programming skills from other industries
• A demonstrable knowledge of a variety of asset classes, with a focus on index preferable
• Ability to identify potential issues and resolve them creatively
• Proactive in solving problems and taking initiatives, and keen to learn and develop technical skills.
• Proven knowledge of Python, pandas, and OOP
• SQL is essential. We heavily use PostgreSQL and Snowflake
• Support CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployments and app reliability
• Experience with git, GitHub, GitHub CoPilot
• Exposure to JavaScript and flask / fastAPI is helpful.
