Lead Electrical Technician
Salary: £45,000–£55,000
Location: Billingham/Hartlepool

opportunities for experienced engineers and technicians who want to contribute to the safe,
efficient and continuous improvement of its manufacturing sites.
The Role
The Lead Electrical Technician will supervise and undertake the installation, maintenance,
testing, fault-finding and repair of electrical, instrumentation and control systems across the plant.
The role will ensure systems and equipment operate safely, efficiently and reliably while
complying with all relevant safety and regulatory standards. You will also coordinate daily
electrical maintenance activities, mentor technicians and support wider production and
engineering objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of technicians in completing electrical work safely and
effectively.
- Coordinate daily activities to support maintenance priorities and production
requirements.
- Install, maintain, test and dismantle electrical, instrumentation and control
equipment.
- Work with motors, drives, switchgear, sensors, transmitters, control valves and
electrical panels.
- Lead and carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance.
Diagnose electrical faults, identify root causes and implement effective repairs. Safely remove, replace or repair faulty components. Lead Return to Service activities, ensuring equipment is fully tested and verified
before being returned to operation.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, technical
manuals and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure work complies with relevant legislation, industry regulations and Natara’s
safety and environmental requirements.
- Promote safe working practices and oversee Permit to Work activities.
- Train and mentor junior team members, supporting their technical development.
- Identify system defects, performance issues and opportunities for plant
modification or improvement.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Update and distribute as-built documentation in accordance with company
standards.
- Support a strong culture of safety, accountability and engineering performance.
Qualifications And Experience
- An ECITB apprenticeship or another recognised electrical engineering
apprenticeship.
- Alternatively, an HNC or HND supported by appropriate practical experience.
- A valid CompEx certificate covering Ex01–Ex04.
- Strong knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Electrical maintenance experience within a process, chemical, manufacturing,
production or similarly regulated environment.
- Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring electrical technicians.
- Experience working within a formal Permit to Work system and Site Safety
Management System.
- Knowledge of fire and gas detection systems, process-safety protection systems
and emergency shutdown systems.
- Relay-protection training.
- LV/HV switching and isolation training.
- HV Authorisation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation.
- A working knowledge of food-industry practices would be advantageous.
