About The Role
The Patient Access Team Leader will manage and co-ordinate the Oncology booking team, to ensure the provision of efficient, effective and quality services within a defined specialty and across other services along the patient’s pathway. The post holder will be specifically responsible for ensuring patients receive timely access to outpatient departments and day case treatments within the Oncology & Specialist Palliative Care services.
The post holder will be required to manage the data quality across service areas, ensuring accurate activity is routinely captured on information systems in real time and where data is found to be incorrect, ensure it is amended appropriately; identifying, addressing, resolving and correcting any process issues identified which may extend beyond their own service areas.
This role is mainly based at Pinderfields Hospital, however you may be required travel to different locations as per service need.
Main duties
- Lead and coordinate the Oncology Booking Team, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and service demands are met.
- Supervise, support and develop administrative staff through recruitment, training, performance reviews, appraisals and day-to-day management.
- Manage staff attendance, annual leave and workforce planning to maintain service continuity.
- Foster a positive team culture through effective communication, regular team engagement and sharing of departmental and Trust updates.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and governance requirements across all areas of responsibility.
- Monitor patient waiting lists, clinic capacity and performance targets, proactively identifying and escalating potential service pressures or breaches.
- Validate and maintain the accuracy of patient pathway data, ensuring high standards of data quality and reporting.
Collaborate with clinicians, managers and multidisciplinary teams to optimise clinic utilisation, patient flow and service capacity.Produce and analyse performance reports, supporting service improvement initiatives and achievement of key performance indicators.Identify opportunities to improve processes, patient access and waiting list management, implementing changes to enhance service delivery.Respond to enquiries, complaints and escalated issues professionally and efficiently, ensuring excellent patient and stakeholder experience.
Qualifications
Essential person specification requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, ILM qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Good standard of education, including at least 4 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
Experience
- Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and email systems.
- Experience of working to targets and performance standards.
- Experience of working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Experience of delivering excellent customer service.
