Podiatrist (Development Role) GOLDEN HELLO £1500

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Podiatrist to join our dynamic team. The role is a development role, leading to a Band 6 Podiatrist role on successful completion of the required training, and development of relevant skills ,within a twelve month period of being in post. The role will involve timely assessment and treatment of a wide range of conditions utilising specialist skill sets and provision of specialist advice. It also involves collaborative working with Acute Services including James Paget University Hospital, and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital

Main duties of the job

The post will be based in a clinical setting and the postholder will carry and be responsible for their own caseload. They will assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised care programmes for a caseload of patients who have complex podiatry presentations including acute and chronic pain patterns; significant physical impairments due to pain or injury and psychological issues and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.

The postholder will work with the Clinical Leads to further develop, in line with evidence-based clinical best practice, ECCH's integrated Podiatry Service.

Clinical Duties:

1. To be responsible for the assessment diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs including:

High Risk Diabetes

Chronic Neuropathy

Chronic disease e.g. rheumatoid Arthritis

Vascular problems

Wound management/tissue viability

2. Care will be provided in a range of settings which may include:

Hospital Clinics

Hospital Wards

Health Centre Community Clinics

GP Practice Clinics

Residential Homes for the Elderly

Patients Homes

Care Centres for the Disabled and Learning Difficulties

3. To be responsible for the assessment of new patients with subsequent production of individual care packages and provision of the appropriate foot care education advice to groups of patients.

4. With the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed departmental referral pathways e.g. acute Wound care/Biomechanics.

5. To participate in the departmental rota for nail surgery and ward rounds.

6. To perform diabetic assessment review clinics in G.P Practices where duties will include:

Qualifications

Essential

• HCPC Registration
• Podiatry Degree or equivalent.
• Local Analgesia Administration Certificate.
• Evidence of CPD Portfolio.
• Knowledge of NHS Podiatry practice is essential

Experience

Essential

• Observational/Student Placement within NHS is essential.

Desirable

• Previous employment as a podiatrist
• Previous experience of work with the elderly in a paid or voluntary capacity is also advantageous.

• Candidates must possess good verbal and written communication skills, as they will be dealing with predominantly elderly patients, and also other health care professionals.
• Candidates must have good organizational skills, as they will be managing their own caseload and also expected to accept responsibility for the day-to-day running of the clinics in which they work.
• Candidates must have the ability to travel as they will be working in more than one location.
• Candidates must be able to produce document implement and evaluate care plans.
• Personal Attributes:

Willingness and ability to work across different sites and travel to alternative sites and across the community as required.
