An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Podiatrist to join our dynamic team. The role is a development role, leading to a Band 6 Podiatrist role on successful completion of the required training, and development of relevant skills ,within a twelve month period of being in post. The role will involve timely assessment and treatment of a wide range of conditions utilising specialist skill sets and provision of specialist advice. It also involves collaborative working with Acute Services including James Paget University Hospital, and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital
Main duties of the job
The post will be based in a clinical setting and the postholder will carry and be responsible for their own caseload. They will assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised care programmes for a caseload of patients who have complex podiatry presentations including acute and chronic pain patterns; significant physical impairments due to pain or injury and psychological issues and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.
The postholder will work with the Clinical Leads to further develop, in line with evidence-based clinical best practice, ECCH's integrated Podiatry Service.
Band 5 Job Description:
Clinical Duties:
1. To be responsible for the assessment diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs including:
High Risk Diabetes
Chronic Neuropathy
Chronic disease e.g. rheumatoid Arthritis
Vascular problems
Wound management/tissue viability
2. Care will be provided in a range of settings which may include:
Hospital Clinics
Hospital Wards
Health Centre Community Clinics
GP Practice Clinics
Residential Homes for the Elderly
Patients Homes
Care Centres for the Disabled and Learning Difficulties
3. To be responsible for the assessment of new patients with subsequent production of individual care packages and provision of the appropriate foot care education advice to groups of patients.
4. With the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed departmental referral pathways e.g. acute Wound care/Biomechanics.
5. To participate in the departmental rota for nail surgery and ward rounds.
6. To perform diabetic assessment review clinics in G.P Practices where duties will include:
