Practice Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Albany House Medical Centre.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a busy GP practice. The successful candidate will provide a range of nursing services including immunisations and vaccinations, wound care, cervical screening, health promotion, long-term condition management and general treatment room duties.

You will work closely with GPs, healthcare assistants and the wider practice team to deliver excellent care and achieve the best outcomes for our patients. Previous experience in general practice is desirable, although nurses with transferable skills and an interest in developing a career in primary care are encouraged to apply.

This role is for 35.5 hours per week, typically worked on Monday-Friday pro rata with some flexibility available by agreement. The successful candidate will also participate in our Saturday morning rota (8:00am to 12:00pm), approximately one in six weekends.

Main duties of the job

As a Practice Nurse, you will deliver a wide range of treatment room and chronic disease management services, including cervical screening, wound care, venepuncture, ECGs, childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations, spirometry, Feno testing, COPD, asthma reviews and health promotion activities.

You will support patients with the management of long-term conditions and contribute to vaccination programmes and QOF achievement.

Working closely with GPs and the wider practice team, you will assess, treat and advise patients in line with practice protocols, maintain accurate clinical records, request pathology tests within your scope of practice, and support the smooth running of clinical services. You will also contribute to the management of clinical stock and equipment, infection prevention and control activities, and the effective use of our Anima Health digital triage system.

• Experience of working in a primary care, community nursing, or comparable healthcare setting.
• Experience of delivering patient-centred nursing care.
• Experience of chronic disease management, including long-term conditions such as asthma & COPD
• Experience and Accredited Qualifications in Spirometry testing
• Experience in Performing FeNO Testing and Using FeNO Equipment
• Experience of undertaking wound care, including wound assessment and removal of sutures and staples.
• Experience of immunisation and vaccination programmes.
• Experience of ECG recording.
• Experience of health promotion and preventative healthcare.
• Experience of maintaining accurate clinical records using electronic patient record systems.
• Experience of working independently and managing a caseload within own scope of practice.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
• Flexibility to work outside of core office hours
• Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
• Occupational Health FIT clearance
• Meet the requirements and produce evidence for nurse revalidation
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) commensurate with the role of a Practice Nurse
• Experience of working in a primary care environment
