RoC Consulting (part of RSK Land and Development) is looking for a strongly experienced and motivated
Principal Structural Engineer to support our established team based in
Manchester, UK.

The Role:
The Principal Structural Engineer will be able to produce design calculations for building structures in all common materials without supervision and they will be able to produce concept designs for simple building structures. They will also be expected to manage small projects from inception to completion, communicating with the wider design team and supervise work undertaken by junior engineers and technicians.
The role will also involve survey and assessment of existing structures, communication of design details and concepts via sketches and drawings, checking designs produced by others, liaising with architects, contractors and other construction professionals and attending site as required.
Responsibilities:
- To manage small projects from inception to completion, to agree the programme for the work and to meet the deadlines set for the delivery of production information
- To understand the commercial context and scope of work for the projects they are managing and highlight any additional works that would be considered to be variations
- To cooperate with other design team members as reasonably required to meet the objectives of the project
- To be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the production information on those projects they are managing
- To check their own work and that of other engineers and technicians working for them
To cooperate with colleagues as reasonably required to meet the objectives of the businessTo behave in a manner in keeping with expectations of a professional businessTo consider the health and safety of themselves and others both in the office and whilst on site and to undertake design risk assessments in line with the requirements of the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations
Qualifications and Experience:
To be a Principal Structural Engineer the engineer should have achieved or almost achieved chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers or other similar organisation or have developed the skills expected of a Principal Structural Engineer though years of relevant experience.
