This is a unique role within Meta's Infrastructure organization. Meta’s Rotational Network Engineering (RNE) Program finds, hires and grows full-time engineers for the Network Infra teams.As an RNE Manager, you will act as an Engineering Manager finding and supporting qualified talent across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) — partnering with experienced Backbone, Datacenter, Performance and Automation engineers, engineering managers and organizational leaders. You will support each of our Rotational Network Engineers in EMEA to help them achieve long-term success at Meta.Your primary function will be to lead and support network engineers with early-career experience until they join a permanent team in the Network, while evolving the Program's methodology. Our philosophy is “learning by doing”, therefore you will work with various network engineering teams to discover and scope projects that constitute a fruitful learning experience for Rotational Network Engineers, and provide value to the wider Network Engineering and Infra Security organization.This is a highly cross-functional role. You will shape and lead our recruitment efforts in the region, partnering with the recruitment team to find suitable candidates for the program.
Production Engineering Manager, Rotational Network Engineering (RNE) Program Responsibilities:
- Build a plan for each team member with technical leads and mentors from Network Infrastructure, Backbone, and Datacenter Engineering
- Establish and foster fruitful working relationships with various stakeholders and teams within Network Infra
- Manage and grow multi-disciplinary recruiting plans across universities and industry
- Develop and manage work plans from recruiting, to mentor and task selection to team assignment
- Manage expectations of all interested parties: define clear program roadmap with key deliverables and milestone dates, maintain program information wiki pages, and identify and communicate risks and adjustments to the overall program to meet recruitment demands from Network Engineering teams
Understand the network product delivery cycleWork closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employeesInfluence Network Infrastructure teams for their buy in to the program, obtain agreement to provide mentors and projects and to consider rotational engineers as one of their hiring pipelinesEnable and unblock engineers through coaching, learning, and mentorship programsResponsible for people management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reportsBuild training curriculum for the teamFocus on building and growing a productive team of Network Engineers that can be impactful across multiple networking disciplines
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Networking, System Administration, Software Engineering or Product Development experience
- Familiarity with source control, software development cycles and practices
- Experience with launching and iterating on product, services, tools or technical frameworks
- Experience managing an engineering team
- B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- 2+ years experience program management or product management
- 4+ years of experience working with networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS, etc
