SOC 2440 is an eligible occupation, but we classified this role with low confidence (48% match). If the code is right — and Nationwide Building Society is a licensed sponsor — it should qualify, but double-check the occupation eligibility rules against the actual role.
This role sits within Finance as part of the Virgin Money Finance Integration Programme, a major transformation supporting the integration of Virgin Money into Nationwide. Working across Finance, Product, and delivery teams, the programme ensures systems, data, and processes are integrated safely and under strong governance.
You will lead end‑to‑end Finance process change, ensuring readiness for new and migrated product capabilities. This includes embedding robust accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and treasury processes, managing dependencies, and maintaining effective control of risks and decisions.
The role plays a key part in protecting financial integrity, meeting regulatory requirements and enabling a smooth, well‑governed transition that supports long‑term value and confidence for Nationwide’s members.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 24-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, London or Glasgow office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
A typical day in this role is fast‑moving and highly purposeful. You sit at the heart of the Virgin Money Finance integration, helping ensure systems, data, and processes are brought safely into Nationwide within a complex, multi‑workstream programme.
Your focus is leading end‑to‑end finance change and making sure Finance is genuinely ready for new and migrated products, from accounting and reporting through to treasury. You work closely with programme, product, and finance teams to manage dependencies, risks, and key decisions, keeping delivery on track and well controlled.
You’ll spend time turning complex change into clear, measurable actions, using tools like Jira to track progress, highlight risks, and maintain transparency. Expectations are high, but you’re trusted to lead and make a visible impact, playing a critical role in delivering a smooth finance integration and setting the business up for long‑term success.
About you
For this role, we are looking for:
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
The extras you’ll get
There are all sorts of employee benefits available at Nationwide, including:
Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society
We forge our own path at Nationwide.
As a mutual, we’re owned by our members - those customers who bank, save or have a mortgage with us. We challenge the financial sector status quo. If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.
At Nationwide, you are challenged to grow and rewarded for doing so. Valued. Recognised. Inspired to be your best. As a community, we want our working lives to count. As a team, we celebrate what we achieve. As a standard-setter, we work for the good of customers, communities, and broader society.

Not necessarily. Nationwide Building Society holds a sponsor licence, but sponsorship for a specific hire is always the employer's decision. Be upfront in your application that you'll require it.
The offer must clear both the general threshold and the SOC 2440 going rate of £56,500. New-entrant and shortage discounts can lower it.
