About the role
Quantitative Researcher – New Graduate
Location: London
Scope
As a Quantitative Researcher, you will join a hedge fund’s systematic investment team and contribute to the research and development of quantitative trading strategies across global financial markets.
You will research predictive signals, develop statistical and machine-learning models, and analyse large, noisy datasets to identify repeatable investment opportunities. Working closely with portfolio managers, researchers and developers, you will take ownership of ideas from initial hypothesis and backtesting through to production implementation and performance monitoring.
Qualifications
- Recent bachelor’s, master’s or PhD graduate in a highly technical subject, such as computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or physics
- Strong knowledge of statistics, probability and machine learning, with practical experience applying these techniques to real-world data
- Demonstrable interest in quantitative finance, systematic investing or electronic trading
- Strong programming and software-development skills in Python, C++, Java or a similar language
- Ability to conduct rigorous research and distinguish genuine predictive signals from statistical noise
- Highly motivated, intellectually curious and focused on measurable real-world results
- Low ego and able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of research through to production
- Prior internship or research experience in quantitative finance, technology or data science is preferred but not required
- A strong drive to turn research into profitable, scalable and maintainable trading strategies
