Job Description

Our clients ask us to make sense of complex, ambiguous problem spaces across digital transformation initiatives, spanning products, platforms, operating models, and data. As a Senior BA here, you’re a problem framer and synthesiser, not an order taker, who turns research, stakeholder input, and data into clear options, a recommendation, and a practical path to value. You partner closely with Product, Delivery, Engineering and Design to shape the “why/what”, enable the “how”, and de-risk delivery end to end.

Education

You will work on a range of high-profile digital transformation projects, across central government including education, training, social care or the criminal justice system. Examples of the projects you could be working on include developing new services to:

  • Enable people in prison to receive better and more tailored education and training
  • Reducing administrative burden of schools and teachers
  • Supporting teachers enhance their skills and career development to ensure children get excellent teaching standards
  • Ensuring the Teaching Regulation Agency handles teacher data safely and accurately

  • Qualifications

    • Industry relevance: Must be experienced working to the GOV.UK Service Standard or within the public sector.
    • Strategic + analytical: you’re comfortable stepping into ambiguous problem spaces and connecting them to tangible, measurable business outcomes. You help clients break these down into clear, step‑by‑step deliverables, bringing analytical rigour so the work can be planned and delivered with confidence.
    • Translational: you turn analysis into meaningful insights that underpin decision making. You work with Product and clients to prioritise benefits and trade‑offs across options and outline practical routes to value. Slides and docs are vehicles for judgement, not the job.
    • Stakeholder partner: you build credibility and trust quickly, operating as a trusted advisor and collaborator. You tailor engagement to context and seniority, and you use concise, outcome-led interactions to help stakeholders align and make decisions at pace.
    • Delivery pragmatic: you’ve worked effectively in Agile environments, but you can flex your approach to context. You stay focused on client needs and protect outcomes throughout the delivery lifecycle, regardless of framework.
    • Digital transformation experience: you’ve led analysis and direction‑setting on complex digital programmes, working across the transformation lifecycle - from early problem framing and research, through analysis and stakeholder alignment, into shaping solution direction and supporting delivery end‑to‑end.
    • Mindset: you’re outcomes-focused, commercially aware, and comfortable working in the open - sharing your thinking early and being transparent about potential pitfalls. You bring no ego: you listen carefully, seek feedback early, and adapt your approach based on what you hear.

    How You Operate

    • Frame the problem & focus areas: Rapidly clarify the problem situation, define hypotheses, and identify the few levers that matter. Stay outcomes‑oriented - keep the bigger picture visible and regularly check scope and decisions against it as delivery progresses.
    • Shape options into solution & decision: Build robust options analyses tied to strategy, using clear criteria and stated assumptions. Compare benefits, costs, risks, dependencies, and constraints, and produce decision-ready recommendations.
    • Build trust with clients: Create a dynamic that quickly builds strong client relationships by delivering high quality work, actively listening to concerns, and picking up on and responding to feedback.
    • Influence decisions through narrative and facilitation: Set the right forums, run crisp workshops, and use compelling narrative to secure decisions - pitch proposals, don’t just present information.
    • Stay end-to-end & protect value: Maintain continuity from discovery through delivery: refine scope, ensure deliverables serve outcomes (not the other way around), actively manage risks/assumptions, keep documentation lean and useful, and adapt approach to keep the intended outcomes and benefits intact.
    • Measure what matters: Help teams clarify expected benefits, agree what “success” looks like, and support the handover to BAU to ensure the change is embedded and outcomes can be demonstrated.
