Senior Cancer Manager

The Senior Cancer Manager will provide support using their high-level cancer knowledge and management skills to enable change to support delivery of MFT cancer objectives and priorities identified within the local cancer delivery plans. The breadth of MFT's Cancer programme covers the whole pathway including screening and early diagnosis, personalised care and sustainable operational performance.

The Senior Cancer Manager will be responsible for the development, management and implementation of key projects across MFT organisations and oversee the cancer services team at the MRI/NMGH site. The role will require project management skills to deliver objectives in accordance with the aims and ambitions of MFT. The role will encompass a performance management element which will help drive the improvement of Cancer Performance and Compliance, to ensure the best outcomes for all MFT patients on a Cancer Pathway. The role will work with hospital sites in order to ensure performance and compliance, in adherence with National Cancer Wait Times and any other relevant national guidance. This will include analysis of cancer breaches to enable corrective action planning. In conjunction with the Head of Cancer Services, the role will also support and plan the Quality Assurance Process within MFT. This requires a level of political awareness, personal influence and skill.

Essential

• Specialist knowledge over more than one discipline and function acquired through training and experience over an extended period and beyond masters level equivalence
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• The post holder will require in-depth professional knowledge in a number of disciplines e.g. operational management, information and reporting systems, staff management

Desirable

• Project management qualification
• Post-graduate management qualification.

Experience

Essential

• Demonstrable experience at senior level in large complex organisation
• Information management, analysis and reporting of complex data
• Experience of leading change initiatives
• Project management experience and success in implementing highly complex projects
• Management experience and development of teams
• A track record of successful engagement with operational and clinical leaders

Desirable

• Experience of developing alliances and partnerships within and across organisations
• Able to demonstrate operational success managing performance in a large organisation
• Operational / Performance experience within an NHS setting
