Senior Clinical Scientist (Vascular)

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover until 29th October 2027 .

The role of the post-holder is toparticipate in the provision of Vascular Ultrasound and other services by the Non-Ionising Radiation section of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. The section delivers a range of clinical, scientific, technical and advisory services relating to the application of non-ionising at the University Hospital of Wales and other hospital sites. It comprises 6 clinical scientists, 1 STP trainee, 2 healthcare assistants, 2 administration staff. There are strong links with vascular surgery, medicine, haematology, nephrology, cardiology and other clinical services in the Health Board, as well as Cardiff University.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is required to provide safe, effective and timely diagnostic vascular ultrasound services to the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and General Practitioners as directed. This will involve the use of complex imaging and measurement equipment for direct patient assessment; theywill assume a high degree of autonomy, taking direct responsibility for reporting the results of the investigation to referring clinicians and advising the patient on the appropriate course of action. They will also be expected to provide scientific and clinical support in the areas of vascular ultrasound, participate in the research and development activities of the Section, contributing to the teaching and training of staff and students.

Participating in the provision of a safediagnostic vascular ultrasound service. Performing highly specialistinvestigations appropriate forLevel 7 of the Healthcare Science Career framework, including within the Department and outpatient clinics, andportable scans.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
