You will have the opportunity to participate in our exciting 'Introduction to Critical Care Nursing' course, which offers practical and academic support to help you to advance your knowledge and skills in caring for highly dependent complex patients with respiratory illness.

The Lane Fox Respiratory Unit is the largest weaning and home mechanical ventilation center in the UK. We provide management and long term follow up for patients with chronic respiratory disease such as COPD and neuro-muscular diseases. The Lane Fox Respiratory Unit also offers specialist nurse lead clinics and a home ventilation service for assessing and advising patients with chronic respiratory illness.

Main duties of the job

Our unique, purpose built 14 bedded unit delivers highly quality specialised respiratory care to complex level 2 and level 3 patients including:

Person specification

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
• Evidence (Certificates/Record) of undertaking continuing professional development within the last three years and relating into practice

Desirable

• Evidence (Certificate/Record) of undertaking SSSA+P

Experience

Essential

• Recent experience of working in an acute NHS/Private hospital-based area
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Completion of preceptorship
• Experience in mentoring students and junior staff

Skills

Essential

• Able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
• Evidence/Record of excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement & evaluate programmes of care
• Evidence/Record of being able to prioritise workload and deliver care in a timely manner
• Able to provide evidence/record of basic computer skills including ability to use Electronic Patient Records System and completed training
