About the role
Storage & Backup Engineer
Rate: up to £575 per day inside IR35 (DOE)
Duration: initial 4 month contract with likely extension
Location: Remote, UK
Clearance: Active SC Clearance
We are looking for a Storage & Backup Engineer to be responsible for the management, maintenance and optimisation of enterprise storage infrastructure supporting critical government services. You will ensure storage platforms remain secure, resilient, performant and compliant with operational and security requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer SAN and NAS storage platforms.
- Perform storage provisioning, allocation and capacity management.
- Monitor and optimize storage performance and availability.
- Manage storage replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Support firmware upgrades, maintenance and infrastructure changes.
- Investigate and resolve storage-related incidents and problems.
- Collaborate with Wintel, Linux, Database and Application teams.
- Participate in Change Management and release activities.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational runbooks.
- Ensure compliance with security, resilience and audit requirements.
- Key technologies: DELL PowerStore, Brocade SAN switches, DELL VNX
Key requirements:
- Experience working in secure and highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change and Service Management).
- Ability to support critical services with strict availability requirements.
- Experience with operational governance, documentation and audit compliance.
- Participation in on-call and out-of-hours support when required.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
